Award wins for Derry Girls at the Broadcast Awards 2023

Congratulations to Hat Trick Production who won two awards at last night’s Broadcast Awards for its comedy Derry Girls. The series won Best Comedy Programme and Timeline TV Moment of the Year for Erin’s monologue in the final episode.
Derry Girls is the creation of acclaimed writer Lisa McGee who has mined her own experiences to create a candid, one-of-a-kind, family-centred comedy. The final series aired on Channel 4 in April with 1.2 million tuning in to watch the finale featuring Chelsea Clinton. The series once again followed Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle and James growing up in Northern Ireland. While there’s hope in the air that The Troubles may finally be over, the gang are only just getting started as they get closer to “adulthood”. The series was filmed on location in Northern Ireland.
The awards took place at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House.
