Course Overview

Instructor: The Nerve Centre

Nerve Centre’s Employability Skills Accelerator programme prepares participants for further training and employment-ready opportunities in the Screen Industries. By the end of the programme, participants will have:

  • Increased understanding of the screen industry employment climate in NI, where the jobs are and how to progress towards them.
  • 30 hours of practical industry-led training in a skills gap role in the art department, locations, and craft skills.
  • An industry-friendly CV, cover letter and showreel from work readiness training to improve their employability prospects.
  • Introduction and interview with a local screen industries employer.
  • Time and support to better understand the skills gap roles, and the working culture and realities of working in these roles.
  • Networking and signposting through the Foyle Film Festival Industry programme to further progression opportunities with Northern Ireland Screen.

  • Duration: 10 sessions

  • 26th September 2025 – Managing Yourself as Part of a Crew
  • 3rd October 2025 – Professional Standards – Set Etiquette
  • 10th October 2025 – Production Paperwork – Why You Need It
  • 17th October 2025 – Health & Safety on Set
  • 24th October 2025 – Hands-On Experience – Production Preparation Day
  • TBC (Sat/Sun) 2025 – Production Day – Live Set Experience
  • TBC (Sat/Sun) 2025 – Advanced Set Experience
  • Mid-Term – Self-Reflection, Shoot Evaluation, Professional Feedback Reports from HODs
  • 7th November 2025 – Self-Led Learning and Preparation Week
  • 10th–14th November 2025 – Career Development – Self-Management in the Industry
  • 21st November 2025 – Industry Integration – Networking and Employer Engagement
  • 5th December 2025 – Evaluation and Career Progression Planning
  • 7th March 2026 – Post Programme Networking Event
