The Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Investment Committee has confirmed support for a series of TV productions, including four for BBC NI, two for GB News and a year of content on NVTV.
Local companies awarded funding are DoubleBand Films, Below the Radar and NPE Media for BBC NI, Féinics Productions for GB News and Northern Visions TV.
Style and sustainability will feature in new four-part series, Jane Rea’s Bloomin’ Wild as proud Ulster-Scot Jane invites viewers to her County Antrim family farm to showcase the best in local crafts and produce. A former Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Production Trainee, Jane has gone on to forge a fantastic media career, both as a producer/director and presenter. The series is being produced by Below the Radar.
DoubleBand Films take their successful series The Band overseas as they follow musicians from Northern Ireland, Canada and the USA with a shared passion for the marching bands scene.
The social media phenomenon of exploring abandoned architecture is the focus of NPE Media documentary Abandoned Ulster. Photographer Rebecca Brownlie captures three neglected buildings with Ulster-Scots heritage, while Ulster-Scots poetry and prose adds a distinct literary layer.
Ulster-Scots plougher Andrew Gill gears up for the 70th World Ploughing Championships in Prague in Below the Radar documentary Plough On! Can Andrew follow in his family’s furrows and bring home the big prize?
Architects of America: Foundations of Freedom and Rebellion to Revolution is a two-part documentary series exploring the pivotal Ulster-Scots role in the founding of the USA. The first part will be shown during GB News’ live coverage of The Twelfth in 2025. While a second documentary will continue the story in July 2026, marking the 250th anniversary of US Independence.
And Northern Visions TV will produce another year of Ulster-Scots coverage, with everything from news and events to documentaries and fact-ent series adding to their already extensive archive available at ulsterscots.nvtv.co.uk, as well as on their TV channel.
“The Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund is delighted to support such an exciting array of programming and looks forward to working with each of the production companies and broadcasters over the coming months,” said Heidi McAlpin, Northern Ireland Screen Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Executive.
