The Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund (USBF) Investment Committee has awarded funding to two landmark projects that will mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence in 2026.
DoubleBand Films will produce The Road to Revolution, a two-part documentary series for BBC Northern Ireland exploring the pivotal role of Ulster-Scots in the events leading up to and following the American Revolution.
Additionally, the Nerve Centre will develop an engaging digital resource highlighting the anniversary’s significance through key people, places, and events on both sides of the Atlantic. From the Scots-Irish Founding Fathers through to today’s enduring Ulster-Scots legacy, each project will shine a light on a remarkable story that resonates to this day.
“I am delighted that DoubleBand Films and The Nerve Centre have been awarded funding to create these exciting projects,” said Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Executive Heidi McAlpin.
“The signing of the Declaration of Independence is arguably the definitive Ulster-Scots moment. With its 250th anniversary just over a year away, I look forward to seeing how both companies depict this epic story.”
