Terry Loane’s Tomorrow’s Too Late to have its world premiere at Sheffield DocFest

Date Posted: June 17, 2025

A beloved musician transitions and risks everything — including his voice — to live authentically as Dylan Holloway.

Tomorrow’s Too Late, an intimate and powerful music documentary directed by acclaimed Northern Ireland filmmaker Terry Loane and produced by Mark Huffam will make its world premiere at the 32nd edition of Sheffield DocFest, taking place from 18–23 June 2025.

Made with support from Northern Ireland Screen, Tomorrow’s Too Late follows British singer Dylan Holloway (formerly known as Lots Holloway), as he navigates the deeply personal and professional challenges of gender transition. Once a rising star on the UK’s X-Factor, Dylan stepped away from public life during the 2020 lockdown to begin hormone therapy – a journey that risked altering the very voice that launched his career.

Told through candid video diaries, family archives, and intimate interviews, Tomorrow’s Too Late traces Dylan’s childhood, his struggle with identity, and the emotional cost of living in the public eye.

The film will screen twice during the festival. A special premiere screening and conversation event will take place on Sunday 22 June at 19:45 at the Crucible Theatre, featuring an extended Q&A with the filmmakers and Dylan Holloway, who will also perform live. A second screening will be held on Monday 23 June at 12:45 at Showroom – Bertha DocHouse Screen 3, with descriptive subtitles provided.

Selected as part of the Rhythms strand at Sheffield DocFest and touching on themes of LGBTQIA+, music & dance, and personal portraits, Tomorrow’s Too Late is a celebration of individuality and artistic expression, highlighting the evolving landscape of British music and queer visibility. Blending candid video diaries, family archive footage, and intimate interviews, the 63-minute documentary offers a raw and lyrical exploration of identity, self-discovery, and transformation.

The film features cinematography by Chris Clarke, editing by Lauren McGuigan, and sound design by Gary Dodkin. Represented internationally by Hannah Shipley at Lime Tree Films, Tomorrow’s Too Late is certified U and presented in English without subtitles.

Tomorrow’s Too Late was made with the support of Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland. The film is represented internationally by Hannah Shipley at Lime Tree Films.
