Screen Academies Foundation Academy for Animation
Date Posted: October 4, 2022
Animation is a major growth area in the creative industries in Northern Ireland and there is a high demand for skills and local talent in animation. Several of our leading animation companies, Sixteen South, Jam Media, Paper Owl and Dog Ears, are partnering with Nerve Belfast and the Nerve Centre in Derry/Londonderry to establish a career pathway into the industry.
The Foundation Academy for Animation is open to any young person aged 16-19 throughout the region with the enthusiasm and commitment to pursue a career within the animation industry and who is not currently attending university.
The Academy is a unique training programme focussing on 2D animation, providing training and hands-on experience of key job roles within the animation industry.
All training will be delivered by industry professionals offering the opportunity to learn from their experience.
This year the Academy is offering self contained modules that will cover what is involved in the production of 2D animation. To make the best use of these modules you will be able to either work on your own personal project, or the Academy can supply the necessary assets to help you complete each of your chosen modules. You will have the opportunity to select modules that may be of interest to you.
This Academy will commence with six Thursday evening sessions across October – November (with three all day sessions 2nd, 3rd and 4th November), you will then break until the New Year and run again with Thursday evening sessions across January – March (The Academy will take place between these dates but you will be contacted about exact session dates and times after the application closing date).
The Academy will run in both Nerve Centre in Derry/Londonderry and Nerve Belfast.
Applications close on Monday 10th October.
