Factual programmes are at the heart of the UK television schedules – whether it’s The Great British Bake-Off, GPs Behind Closed Doors or Gogglebox – and commissioners are constantly on the lookout for the next hit factual series for their channel. 4Skills and National Film and Television School (NFTS) are in Belfast on Tuesday 13th September for a taster day on factual development and production.
Over the course of this free taster day, you’ll gain valuable insights into the process by which factual programmes are conceived, developed, pitched and commissioned – whether it’s a low-cost, high-volume daytime series or a premium peak-time show.
The day will include insider tips designed to help you come up with your own eye-catching ideas, together with advice on how to brainstorm, write and present your ideas to best effect. There will also be the chance to learn more about the NFTS Factual Development and Production Diploma, a year-long, part-time course delivered with a combination of online and in-person sessions.
The day will include an informal Q&A with a local development professional who will share their experience and advice on how to kickstart a career in factual tv.

All venues for these taster days are centrally located and details of the locations will be provided to you on confirmation of your place.

Due to extremely high demand, applications are not guaranteed a space. If you are not successful in securing a place, you will be placed on a waiting list and you will be informed if a place becomes available.
