Seven teams announced for Ireland’s first all-island fund for indie game devs

The seven teams taking part in IndieDev 2024 – the games protoype fund – have been announced.  This is a first-of-its-kind all-island fund managed by Ardán in Galway and IMIRT in Dublin on behalf of  Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland.

The seven teams, three from Northern Ireland and four from the Republic of Ireland, will receive funding of £15,000 / €15,000, as well as taking part in a programme of workshops and mentorship based on team requirements.

These game developers are based out of counties across the island of Ireland including Antrim, Derry-Londonderry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Down, Kildare, Galway, and Dublin.

“The huge number of applicants from all over the island of Ireland for this initiative tells us how needed it is,” says IMIRT CEO Colm Larkin. “Supporting our local talent is key as we work towards Ireland becoming an international game development hub.”

Banbha Productions, led by Kieran Murphy, will be working on ‘Wings of Balance’, Dott Studios, led by Oisin Corr, will be working on ‘The Silver Cord’, Margarita Games, led by Gary Chadwick, will be working on ‘Ravel the Frays’, Saorspell, led by Megan Fox, will be working on ‘Project Raindrop’, fogcore, led by Sara Buckley, will be working on ‘Wayside’, Digital Dullahan, led by Najib Magee, will be exploring ‘Night Strike’, and Comedy Séance, led by Veronica McKittrick, will be working on ‘Paranormal Platoon’.

A variety of game prototypes will be explored, including an episodic fantasy action-adventure, a cosy puzzle ‘platformer’ adventure, a sci-fi mystery visual novel with puzzle mechanics, a narrative-driven adventure RPG (role-playing game), a pulp tactical action horror, a third person character action game, and a

The teams will all start with two weeks of ideation and prototyping, and then 10-12 weeks of development, workshops, and mentorship, culminating in seven game prototypes.
