New ILBF series taps into the increasing number of people wanting better homes and richer lives by moving to the country

More and more people are swapping hectic city life, traffic jams and lack of space for a quieter and more serene life in rural Ireland. In a new Irish Lanaguage Broadcast Fund series, Bog Amach, presenter Tessa Fleming meets six different families in some of Ireland’s most stunning locations and explores with them what their new life could be like. The six-part series produced by Strident Media will air on Monday 27th June at 8pm on RTÉ One.
Cameras roam from north Donegal to Sligo, to Conamara, and to South Kerry as we look at the challenges and opportunities their new lives will bring. We visit a range of houses in each location, from those that are ready to move into to those that need more than a little work.
The homeowners are drawn by the coast, the mountains and the scenary in their search for a new way of life. And working from home has created a revolution for employers and works, making the once seemingly impossible dream a reality.
Every week, Tessa helps a different family in their search for a new home and new life. Can she help make their dream come true?
Tessa shows house-hunters three potential properties in their chosen area. This gives them a taste of how far their money can go – from the ‘do-er upper‘ on the coast to a bungalow in walk-in condition, the search will throw up many unexpected challenges and some pleasant surprises.
This series will appeal to a wide audience, as the core of this series – the hope of building a new life in your dream home – is something that we all aspire to. In addition, we all know these country areas – we visited them as children, we holiday there with our friends and families, we see the images in the media, and read the holiday brochures and websites. And which one of us hasn’t clicked through the property search engines?
Bog Amach isn’t just about houses. It focuses on each buyer’s particular situation, and sees if they can find a home that will work for them. The series gives the buyers a chance to explore the surroundings, take advice from locals and professionals, and decide if the reality lives up to the dream.
