Aonaracht was made for TG4 and BBC Gaeilge by DoubleBand Films, with funding from Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast Fund.

This Irish language feature documentary explores the work of Úna Monaghan, a Belfast harpist, experimental composer, and sound engineer known for her innovative and genre-traversing music and art.

Úna has spent a lifetime steering the course between Irish traditional music, experimental music, improvisation, and interactive technologies. Undertaking one of her most ambitious projects to date – Aonaracht, a six-part suite for six solo musicians – Úna must now convince other top traditional musicians of the merits of the art form she is pioneering, all while embarking on another new project: motherhood.

Featuring contributions from some of the finest traditional musicians in Ireland, including Pauline Scanlon, Paddy Glackin, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jack Talty, Saileog Ní Cheannabháin and Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn, Aonaracht follows one of Ireland’s most exciting talents, the making of an album and the conflict between parenthood and artistic expression.

Aonaracht airs Sunday 11 February at 10pm on BBC Two Northern Ireland and BBC iPlayer.

Léiríodh Aonaracht ag DoubleBand Films do BBC Gaeilge agus TG4 le maoiniú ó Chiste Craoltóireachta Gaeilge de chuid Scáileáin Thuaisceart Éireann.

Leanann fadscannán faisnéise nua obair Úna Monaghan, an cláirseoir, cumadóir agus innealtóir fuaime agus í i mbun albam úr trialach a thaifeadadh.

Tá blianta fada caite ag Úna ag obair idir eolaíocht agus ealaíon, agus ag scrúdú na gcrosbhealaí idir ceol traidisiúnta na hÉireann, ceol trialach, tobchumadh agus teicneolaíocht idirghníomhach. Agus Aonaracht ar cheann de na tograí is uaillmhianaí dá cuid, tá ar Úna anois áitiú ar sárcheoltóirí traidisiúnta eile a muinín a chur inti agus sa seánra atá sí ag cur chun cinn. Mar chúlra leis an saothar seo tá togra eile nua idir lámha ag Úna – máithreachas.

Tá ceol ó chuid de shárcheoltóirí traidisiúnta na hÉireann in Aonaracht, ina measc Pauline Scanlon, Paddy Glackin, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jack Talty, Saileog Ní Cheannabháin agus Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn. Fiosraíonn an scannán seo próiseas dhéanamh albaim ó thús go seoladh, agus an iliomad dúshlán, féinamhrais agus athruithe móra saoil ar an bhealach, leis an choimhlint idir beatha an tuismitheora agus iallach an léiriú ealaíonta a phlé.

Craolfar Aonaracht Dé Domhnaigh 11ú Feabhra ar 22:00 ar BBC Two Northern Ireland agus BBC iPlayer.
