Entries now open for Sheffield Doc|Fest film and arts programme 2021
Date Posted: September 23, 2020
Sheffield Doc|Fest is open for entries from around the world that wish to be considered for launching or premiering as part of the 2021 official selection, within either the film or arts programme.
Sheffield Doc|Fest is an international film and arts festival and marketplace, with a mission to spark imaginations and empower collective capacity for change through celebrating, championing and debating documentary film and art as a collective form of engagement.
Through supporting and sharing non-fiction storytelling, Doc|Fest aims to provide a creative space for discovery, challenge and collaboration. As an internationalist and inclusive festival, Doc|Fest embody a commitment to equality and access for all our communities, bringing together established creatives, new voices, and our host city to shape and question stories and images of the world we live in.
The Film Programme is an international platform to launch new work as part of a carefully curated programme which challenges trends, celebrates difference and enriches engagement. Sheffield Doc|Fest believe in recognising plurality in the form, the origin and identity of filmmakers and artists, in order to be inclusive of less represented or more experimental methods of storytelling alongside mainstream productions.
The Arts Programme (formerly Alternate Realities) is a space for experimentation, exploring narrative through research and bringing together varied forms and languages. The exhibition produces a group show, allowing for the discovery of a multiplicity of artists, artworks and practices in non-fiction from around the world, advocating for a critical and reflective space.
Doc|Fest is interested in questioning the boundaries of documentary, and in expanding them. As such, Sheffield Doc|Fest welcomes non-fiction projects of all lengths (short shorts through to mid-length and features), and across all formats (film, video art, audio and sound art, virtual reality, 360° video, augmented reality, mixed reality, interactive documentary, AI, game, motion comic, performance, and installation).
