Britain on Film nominated for a FOCAL International Award

Britain on Film, a project from the BFI National Archive and major film archives across the UK – including Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive – has been nominated in the Best use of footage on non-TV platforms category at the FOCAL International Awards which take place on 26 May at the Lancaster London Hotel.
Celebrating the best use of archive footage in all variety of genre, across all media platforms and also recognising the researchers, technicians and producers that access, maintain and use this precious resource, the FOCAL awards are recognised as the leading and most complete set of awards for the archive footage business in the world today.
Through a major process of digitisation, Britain on Film has offered audiences across the UK innovative ways to discover, explore and engage with newly digitised films. As regional representative, Northern Ireland Screen – through its Digital Film Archive – curated Northern Ireland on Film, making accessible materials from museums, broadcasters, government departments, independent filmmakers and amateur cine enthusiasts, films that tell our stories and the story of film in Northern Ireland.
