Con Air screening at the Ulster Aviation Society
Date Posted: August 8, 2016
The Ulster Aviation Society will play host to a special screening of the 1990’s action film Con Air. The screening will take place on Thursday 1st September in the society’s Aviation Hanger, Halftown Road, Lisburn.
Con Air follows just-paroled army ranger Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) as he heads back home to his wife (Monica Potter), but Poe must fly home aboard a prison transport flight dubbed “Jailbird” with some of the worst criminals living. Along with Diamond Dog (Ving Rhames) and Baby-O (Mykelti Williamson), genius serial killer Cyrus “The Virus” Grissom (John Malkovich) unleashes a violent escape plot in mid-flight. Secretly working with U.S. Marshall Vince Larkin (John Cusack), Poe tries to foil Grissom’s plan.
The screening is presented by Belfast Film Festival, FilmHubNI and Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive. Before the main feature, Northern Ireland Screen will show footage from its Digital Film Archive collection, including material newly digitised as part of the BFI’s Unlocking Film Heritage.
The Ulster Aviation Society’s hanger is one of Northern Ireland’s best kept secrets and home to a unique array of historic aircraft and exhibits celebrating Northern Ireland’s aviation heritage. See Cold War and World War Two aircraft, stroll among the displays of airplanes, helicopters and aviation artefacts before watching Nicholas Cage kick ass!
Tickets cost £8 and include a tour of the Aviation Museum starting 7:15pm followed by the Digital Film Archive screening, 8.15pm, and the feature presentation of Con Air, 8.35pm. For further information on the screening and tickets visit the Belfast Film Festival website.
