Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves filmed on location in Northern Ireland with support from Northern Ireland Screen will have its world premiere at South by Southwest Film and Television Festival today, Friday 10th March.

Directed by Jonathon Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the blockbuster features a charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers as they undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.

The Paramount Pictures / eOne adventure movie – which was filmed in Northern Ireland in 2021 at Titanic Studios and on location in Tollymore Forest, Ballintoy Beach, Carrickfergus Castle, Castleward and Glenarm Castle and Seaford Estate.

Actors Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant spent time in Northern Ireland filming the fantasy adventure movie through various phases of Covid restrictions.

Director Jonathon Goldstein, in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview said: “We didn’t want it to be that gritty, grim, medieval look that you see so often. We shot in Northern Ireland, which is one of the greenest places on Earth. It would be a sin to strip it of that natural beauty.”

Both Directors were quick to credit the production team – in particular, production designer Ray Chan – for working to find unique characteristics of each shooting location onscreen. “None of them felt the same,” John Francis Daley continued. “They all felt like they were coming from different influences.”

The film is released in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on March 31st
