Malojian releases new single inspired by archive material
History meets music as Northern Ireland’s Malojian releases the video for its new single, Some New Bones, inspired by archive footage. Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive teamed up with the band, to support the creation of the video for their new single, as it looks for new ways which people can interact and use archive material.
The video is part of Northern Ireland Screen’s Coast to Coast programme which was launched as part of the BFI’s Britain on Film Coastal initiative. Coast to Coast is a series of events and presentations, of archive material about Northern Ireland’s coastal and maritime history, which will be held throughout the summer.
Some New Bones is part of Malojian’s upcoming new album, Let Your Weirdness Carry You Home. The costal theme features heavily in the video for the single which saw the band and local filmmaker, Colm Laverty, taking to Rathlin East Lighthouse Lighthouse on the remote Rathlin Island to film the video.
The archive material itself is from Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive which contains over 90 hours of moving images about life in pre- Partition Ireland and Northern Ireland from 1897 to 2014.
