Bantracht podcast series returns for a second series

Date Posted: September 25, 2024

Bantracht podcast series returns for a second series where friends Méabh Nic Alastair & Milène Fegan share their even deeper highs and deeper lows of motherhood having both expanded their families since series one.

With thanks to funding from Irish Language Broadcast Fund all ten brand-new episodes will be available on Spotify on 1 October 2024.

Presented by two friends whose friendship blossomed before their children did, Méabh Nic Alastair and Milène Fegan discuss their own experiences as parents of young children with an eye on the future throughout the series. Both are honest and direct with no hesitation in talking about the most important things in life with a healthy dose of cynicism thrown in for good measure.

Series two takes a deeper dive into maternal mental health, entreprenuership, uncommon routes to motherhood and musing over later stages of parenthood.  Méabh and Milène discuss their newly expanded families and will cover a broad spectrum of subjects, both serious and light-hearted, but always balancing the light with the shade. They talk openly about the ups and downs of family life both in their own lives and in the lives of the guests on each episode.

Special guests on the series include writer Realtán Ní Leannán, physiotherapist Aoife Ní hEochaidh, journalist Eimear McGovern, entrepreneur Máire Mhic Dhomhnaill and former Wexford hurler Diarmuid Lyng among many others.

Bantracht is a Macha Media production which received support from the Irish Language Broadcast Fund, NI Screen, it is available on Spotify from 1 October 2024. Post-production was done in Macha Studios, Antaine Ó Donnaile was the executive producer and it was co-produced and co-presented by Milène Fegan and Méabh Nic Alastair.

Tá an tsraith podchraolta Bantracht ar ais don dara sraith agus beidh na cairde Méabh Nic Alastair & Milène Fegan ag roinnt  na mbuaicphointí agus na n-íosphointí a bhaineann leis an mháithreachas, go háirithe agus iad beirt i ndiaidh cur lena dteaghlaigh ó craoladh an chéad sraith.

A bhuí le maoiniú ón Chiste Craoltóireachta Gaeilge, beidh gach ceann den 10 clár ar fáil ar Spotify ó 1 Deireadh Fómhair 2024.

Agus í arna chur i láthair ag beirt chomrádaithe, Méabh Nic Alastair agus Milène Fegan, ar tháinig bláth ar a gcairdeas sular tháinig a bpáistí ar an saol, déantar plé sa tsraith ar a dtaithí féin mar thuismitheoirí a bhfuil páistí óga acu agus coinníonn siad súil ar an am atá rompu. Mná macánta agus díreacha iad agus níl aon drogall orthu labhairt ar na rudaí is tábhachtaí sa saol, agus ní choinnítear aon rún siar sa tsraith seo.

Tugann sraith a dó léargas níos doimhne ar mheabhairshláinte na máthar, ar an fhiontraíocht, ar bhealaí neamhchoitianta le bheith mar mháthair agus ar chéimeanna malla na tuismitheoireachta. Pléann Méabh agus Milène a dteaglaigh mhéadaithe agus cuimseoidh siad réimse leathan ábhar, idir cheisteanna tromchúiseacha agus ceisteanna éadromchroíocha, ach cothromaíocht ann i gcónaí idir mhaith agus olc. Labhraíonn siad go hoscailte faoi bhuaicphointí agus faoi íosphointí shaol an teaghlaigh ina mbeatha féin agus i mbeatha na n-aoíonna a bheidh leo ar gach clár.

Ar na haíonna speisialta ar an tsraith, tá an scríbhneoir Realtán Ní Leannán, an fisiteiripeoir Aoife Ní hEochaidh, an t-iriseoir Eimear McGovern, an fiontraí Máire Mhic Dhomhnaill, iar-iománaí le Loch Garman Diarmuid Lyng, agus go leor eile.

Is léiriúchán de chuid Macha Media é Bantracht, a fuair maoiniú ón Chiste Craoltóireachta Gaeilge, Scáileán TÉ agus beidh sé ar fáil ar Spotify ó 1 Deireadh Fomhair 2024. Rinneadh iarléiriú ar an tsraith ag Stiúideo Macha Media, ba é Antaine Ó Donnaile an léiritheoir feidhmiúcháin agus ba iad Milène Fegan agus Méabh Nic Alastair a chomhléirigh agus a chuir an tsraith i láthair
