An tOireachtas announced the shortlist for the 2023 Oireachtas Media Awards. Northern Ireland Screen is delighted to have six projects supported by its Irish Language Broadcast Fund among the list of nominees; An Buachaill Gealgháireach, Paul Muldoon: Laoithe is Liricí and Séamus Mac Murchaidh: Díolta Faoina Luach. Caoimhe Ní Chathail (Éadaí SOS) has been nominated for Television Personality of the Year, Michelle Nic Pháidín (Meon Eile) for Columnist of the Year and Conor Torbid (Scríbhneoirí an tSléibhe) for Young Star of the Year.
The Oireachtas Media Awards celebrates the high standards and excellence of the Irish language media sector ever year. Presenters, producers, journalists, columnists, actors and television and radio programme makers will be recognised for the standard of work they’ve produced over the past twelve months.
There is a total of 12 categories catering for traditional and online media, including the Rising Star Award. The recipient of this award will be determined by public vote and lines will open on Friday 15th September 2023.
“The launch of Cúla4 is a momentous occasion for the Irish Language Media Sector and for the Irish language” said, Máirín Nic Dhonnchadha, Director of an tOireachtas. “I would like to congratulate all those involved with the channel and I am really looking forward to seeing all the new shows and young stars that will come out of the channel.” “I extend heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees on this year’s shortlist who have shown innovation, creativity, and excellence in their field. We are looking forward to the return of the awards ceremony this year as part of Oireachtas na Samhna in Killarney, Co. Kerry.”
The winner of the Overall Oireachtas Media award will be announced at the end of October 2023. The Oireachtas Media Awards will be presented at a special ceremony on Wednesday the 1st of November, 2023.

Tá lúchair ar Northern Ireland Screen go bhfuil sé togra a bhfuair tacaíocht ón Chiste Craoltóireachta Gaeilge ainmnithe sa liosta seo; An Buachaill Gealgháireach, Paul Muldoon: Laoithe is Liricí and Séamus Mac Murchaidh : Díolta Faoina Luach. Ainmniú Caoimhe Ní Chathail ( Éadaí SOS) mar Phearsa Teilifíse na Bliana, Michelle Nic Pháidín (Meon Eile) mar Cholúnaí na Bliana agus Conor Torbid (Scríbhneoirí an tSléibhe) mar Réalta Óg na Bliana.
Tá dhá chatagóir déag (12) ar chlár na ngradam i mbliana. Is ar bhonn vóta poiblí a roghnófar Réalt Óg na Bliana. Cuirfear tús leis an vóta poiblí Déardaoin, 15 Meán Fómhair 2023.
“Tráth cinniúnach in earnáil na cumarsáide Gaeilge é seo agus tús curtha le ré nua don Ghaeilge anois go bhfuil an cainéal úrnua, Cúla4 tagtha ar an saol”, a dúirt Máirín Nic Dhonnchadha, Ceannasaí an Oireachtais. “Guím gach rath orthu siúd uile atá ar stiúir agus táim ag tnúth le cláracha uathúla ó réaltaí óga an chainéil . Tréaslaím freisin leis na réaltaí atá ainmnithe inniu ar Ghearrliosta na nGradam Cumarsáide 2023. Tá sárshaothar Gaeilge craolta le bliain anuas agus beidh aitheantas á thabhairt dó sin ag Ócáid Bhronnta na nGradam Cumarsáide ar Lá Samhna 2023, le linn fhéile an Oireachtais.”
Fógrófar buaiteoir Bhuaic-Ghradam Cumarsáide an Oireachtais ag deireadh mhí Dheireadh Fómhair 2023. Bronnfar na Gradaim Chumarsáide ag searmanas speisialta a bheidh ar siúl ar Chéadaoin na féile, 1 Samhain 2023.
