Sony Camera Range Training course by Acorn

Acorn Film & TV Ltd is running a two day course focusing on the Sony camera range in February 2017. The course will be led by tutor Alister Chapman who is a renowned Sony ICE (Independent Certified Expert) and guest trainer at universities, film schools and colleges all across the world.
Alister is a graduate in electronics, a highly acclaimed DOP and known for his ability to take sometimes difficult concepts and explain them in a concise and straightforward manner. Acorn will supply the Sony range of cameras, Alexas and Reds for the purposes of the training. The course will comprise of two days with the following itinerary:
Day 1.An introduction to the most recent Sony range FS5, FS7, F5 all of which are widely used in the Northern Ireland Film and TV industry. Alister will demonstrate the set-up of the cameras and an provide an understanding of record formats, luts, 4k, camera matching across the range, and comparison to other camera ranges including Canon, Red and Arri. A look at what exactly exposure and ISO means in a digital world, how to get the very best from the multitude of different gamma and colour settings available to the modern film maker.
Day 2.A more in depth look at colorimetry of the Sony range and integration with other camera systems outputs, codecs and colour management from set to delivery. How to create LUT’s or modify existing LUT’s. When to use LUT’s and when not to use LUT’s. Also a brief overview of colour managed workflows such as ACES.
This course is suited to assistants and operators, DITs, and Post production personnel with some knowledge of these cameras and formats.
