Northern Ireland Screen took centre stage at BAFTA on Thursday 3rd April presenting its latest slate to an industry audience. The event brought together UK commissioners, producers, and executives for a curated programme featuring standout short films, cutting-edge interactive content, and the first UK industry screening of Rian Lennon’s HOUSEJACKERS.
Designed to spotlight the strength and ambition of Northern Ireland’s screen sector, the event showcased a mix of emerging and established talent across short film, feature film and interactive content, providing a networking opportunity for industry professionals eager to discover new talent and explore collaborations.
The event kicked off with a programme of shorts supported by BFI Network and featured BOLDIE, JEGGIES, THE BANFOOT FERRY, ONE TRACK MIND and THE BAN. Followed by the screening of HOUSEJACKERS—the latest feature film to come through Northern Ireland Screen’s New Talent Focus scheme. The scheme aims to support at least one debut feature by a Northern Ireland resident creative team (writer, director and producer) each year. Interactive content from local companies Ambertail, Hazimation, Mad Moon Studios, Cry Baby Studios, Dog Ears and Can You Eat It was available to demo throughout the evening.
Andrew Reid, Chief Content Officer at Northern Ireland Screen, said:
“Northern Ireland is producing some of the most exciting content in the industry right now, and today’s showcase at BAFTA reflects that energy and ambition. The diversity of talent on display, from short films to interactive content alongside the UK industry premiere of HOUSEJACKERS, reinforces our commitment to fostering local talent and supporting the industry. We’re incredibly proud to see these projects making an impact on the industry stage.”
The event reaffirmed Northern Ireland Screen’s role as a driving force in the UK screen sector, building strong industry partnerships and championing the next generation of storytellers.
