The critically acclaimed Belfast-based police drama Blue Lights triumphed at the 2025 Broadcast Awards, winning Best Drama Series or Serial, sponsored by Maidstone Studios. The awards ceremony took place last night at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London.
The critically acclaimed Belfast-based police drama Blue Lights from Two Cities Television for BBC One and iPlayer is a gripping, authentic, and darkly funny portrayal of ordinary people doing an extraordinary job. The series was co-created, written, and directed by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, with Stephen Wright of Two Cities Television and Louise Gallagher of Gallagher Films serving as co-creators and producers. The production was made with the support of Northern Ireland Screen.
The series follows three probationary recruits in the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) as they navigate the challenges on the job in one of the most complex environments for response officers.
Following the critical success and widespread acclaim of both series 1 & 2, the BBC has commissioned two additional six-part series of Blue Lights for BBC One and iPlayer, ensuring the continuation of this standout drama from Two Cities Television.
