Belfast Stories workshops and consultation
Date Posted: August 31, 2022
The Belfast Stories project team is inviting representatives from the screen industry to attend a consultation event on its new visitor attraction.
Due to be completed by 2028, the project will open on the site where North Street and Royal Avenue meet, including the former Bank of Ireland buildings. An exciting and authentic experience with Belfast’s people and personality at its heart, it aims to attract both tourists and locals.
Belfast City Council is running a public consultation in August – November 2022 to gather ideas and evidence to help shape Belfast Stories. It will focus on:
- Raising awareness of Belfast Stories so that people are excited and want to continue to be engaged in its development
- Making sure that Belfast Stories is for everyone. This means making sure that the building is welcoming and accessible and everyone can see themselves reflected in its stories.
Belfast Stories will be a success if the people of Belfast love it, are proud of it and feel that it is truly theirs. We can make this happen by talking to the organisations that work in the city and the people who call it home.
Within the Belfast Stories development, it will be a home for screen industries in Northern Ireland. This will include a state-of-the-art five-screen cinema (including an outdoor screen). It will also contain Northern Ireland’s digital screen archive, which visitors can explore, supported by a year-round programme of talks and interactive events. The screen centre will support the local film industry with developmental space, flexible learning spaces and a story lab. We want to engage with you to better understand the opportunities and hear your ideas for what the screen centre could be.
Belfast City Council is holding workshops on the following dates to focus on the screen industry:
- 7th September at 3.30pm – 5pm in The MAC
- 20th September at 9.30am – 11am Online (via MS Teams)
- 30th September at 12pm – 1.30pm in The MAC
