Channel 4 has commissioned Northern Ireland indie Big Mountain Productions to produce a film exploring the world of make-up masters.
The 60-minute pilot, Generation Foundation, will feature individuals who devote their lives to the art of make-up – from vloggers producing ‘how to’ videos to enthusiastic amateurs.
The film was commissioned by head of features Gill Wilson and will be produced by Lucy Wedlock, who has previously worked on One Born Every Minute and Come Dine With Me.
Executive producer Jane Kelly said Generation Foundation was a “a fun accessible new format”.
“We’ve quite a track record in spotting new ways into global subjects from our base in Northern Ireland so we’re excited to see where our latest trend spotting will take us,” she added.
Wilson said: “It’s harder than ever to make a mark as an individual with make-up. Those we feature are pushing the boundaries to its limit, trying to create a look which is unique, shocking, utterly perfect or all three.”
Separately, Big Mountain has just finished filming the third series of its US Genealogy Roadshow format for PBS. The show, which will air in May and was originally produced for RTE, remains the only Irish format on US Television.
Jane Kelly, Creative Director & Philip McGovern, Managing Director from Big Mountain Productions will also be attending Realscreen 2016 in Washington DC from Sunday 31st January – Wednesday 3rd February.
