Creative Skillset’s NEW Film Accounts Trainee Finder now recruiting
Date Posted: February 27, 2018
Creative Skillset, the skills body for the screen-based industries, has launched a new Film Accounts strand for its flagship Trainee Finder programme, supported by the Film Skills Levy Fund. Responding to industry demand for skilled accounts personnel, a bespoke programme has been created, in partnership with Production Guild, to identify and provide introductory training for numerate individuals eager for a freelance career in the Accounting side of film production.
The trainees will be available for placements on some of the most exciting films shooting in the UK from June 2018.
Addressing the industry’s production skills needs, Trainee Finder has helped place trainees on recent UK feature film productions, such as Wonder Woman, God’s Own Country, Breathe and Lady Macbeth, and on upcoming releases such as Isle of Dogs, Mamma Mia 2, Jurassic World, Yardie and Dumbo.
While on a production, trainees are supported by a supervisor within their department, learn and develop their skills through on the job training and gain important contacts to help them find future work. Alongside placements, trainees attend courses to improve their employability, including Health and Safety, Finance for Freelancers, Networking, Carbon Literacy and grade specific industry masterclasses. They also receive one-to-one support from industry mentors.
Trainees receive an expenses allowance from their production, which is subsidised by industry via the Film Skills Levy Fund managed by Creative Skillset.
Film Accounts Trainee Finder is for individuals who are as equally passionate about numbers as they are about film. Good numeracy and spreadsheet skills are a minimum requirement. Candidates with existing accounting qualifications or book-keeping experience from other industries are welcome to apply.
Lisa Howe, Film Manager, Creative Skillset said, “Trainee Finder is our flagship, industry-supported scheme to help new entrants kick-start their careers in film. Responding to industry demand, we’re delighted to open up the scheme specifically to Film Accounts trainees, in partnership with Production Guild. This is a great opportunity for individuals with a love of numbers to learn more about Accounting pathways and opportunities in the booming UK film industry and will help deliver the Production Accountants that the industry needs now and in the future.”
Lesley Lipscombe, Training and Development Manager, Production Guild said “Production Guild is proud to be working with Creative Skillset in delivering the training for the first group of Production Accounting trainees on Trainee Finder. This will provide a unique opportunity for individuals with bookkeeping or accounting experience and a passion for film to take their first steps towards a career in Production Accounting.”
The closing date for applications is Thursday 29 March 2018.
