Northern Ireland Screen is pleased to announce the third call in 2013/14 (tenth call overall) for the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund. The closing date for the third call is 5pm on Monday 4th November 2013.

Please note that the funding of television programmes by the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund is dependent on a broadcaster having indicated that it wishes to broadcast the programme proposed.

It remains a recommendation that applicants to the fund provide a greater degree of detail on the proposed projects than is presently demanded by a broadcaster at application stage.

Due consideration should be given to the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund Priorities prior to making any application to either a broadcaster or the fund. The Priorities are designed to steer potential applicants towards themes and subject matter that is likely to attract support from the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund. For the avoidance of doubt, the Ulster-Scots Broadcast Fund will accept applications with support from all broadcasters with significant reach in Northern Ireland.

Priority will be given to projects that have ambition, scale and editorial depth; for example, An Independent People. As well as making a greater impact, it is much clearer that these projects are additional, or over and above, programming that the broadcaster might otherwise have produced and financed itself.

We also strongly recommend that potential applicants engage with consultants who can provide the level of understanding of Ulster-Scots themes that will be required. Northern Ireland Screen may be able to guide potential applicants towards a number of suitable consultants if required.

Guidelines and Priority documents are all available to download in the ‘media and downloads’ section to the right of this page.
