A search for exceptional Northern Ireland comedy writing talent
The Call for Comedy Showcase will be live on stage
12th March 2.00pm at the Black Box Belfast
Call for Comedy is a search for exceptional Northern Ireland comedy writing talent and projects for UK and Irish Television, but also across other digital media and international markets.
It is a collaborative initiative between Notasuch Films Ltd and The Comedy Unit (Part of the internationally renowned Zodiak Media Group). The project is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland's Creative Industries Innovation Fund.
From over 50 submissions in an open call in 2012, two sitcoms and a sketch show have been selected and we'll be previewing scenes from these in front of a live audience including broadcast executives from BBC, RTÉ and Channel 4 in the Green room at the Black Box on 12th March 2013, 2pm - 3.30pm.
Sketch Writers 'The Niners' are a collection of new and experienced writers, stand-up comedians and performers with a fusion of styles. They are...
Eamon Doherty, Patrick McGaughey, Matthew McGettigan, Andrew Gibson, Sara-Jade Davidson, Paddy Mc Donnell, Jonathan McCoy, David Fleming & Jonathan Nicholl.
The selected sitcoms are:
West Haven - by Andrew Parkhill 'A sitcom series about a band of rural islanders who declare independence, only for the pub landlord to set up his own home grown dictatorship'.
Single Mothers, Children and Other Pests - by Michael McDowell/Damon Quinn/Tim McGarry 'A sitcom series about business man and single parent Malcolm Tweed (Director of Make My Day Pest Control), who is tortured by three things: His children, a dole sponger and small animals.'

We're going to Phuket this Christmas) and Bernadette Brown (RTÉ's improv. comedy show, How Low - Reality Check.)
